CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (AP) - A committee of the UNC Board of Governors plans to ask the public who should be the next leader of the 17-campus system.

The panel has scheduled four regional forums to invite public input in the search for a successor for Tom Ross, who is stepping down in January 2016. The committee hopes to have his successor identified by the fall.

Regional sessions are scheduled for May 26 at the Sherrill Center at UNC Asheville; May 27 at the East Carolina Heart Institute at East Carolina University; May 28 at the Townes Science Complex at N.C. Central; and June 1 at the Harris Alumni Center at UNC Charlotte.

Each session will be streamed live and archived on www.northcarolina.edu/presidential-search . Participants may comment via social media (#uncsearch) or via text to 919-590-3630.
