SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) - The Spokane Catholic Diocese welcomed a new bishop with a ceremony on Wednesday.
Bishop Thomas Daly was appointed by Pope Francis in March. He comes to Spokane from San Jose, California, where he served as a bishop since 2011.
Daly succeeds Bishop Blase Cupich, who was tapped to become archbishop of Chicago.
KHQ-TV reports (https://is.gd/Ns6Ymh ) Daly told the crowd at his installation Mass that the Catholic Church has faced many challenges in the last 15 years, but he’s looking forward to facing them together with the Spokane community.
