WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. (AP) - A former bank manager in suburban New York has been sentenced to two and one-third to seven years in prison for stealing more than $1.4 million from two customers at the bank.

Maria Rodriguez, of Mount Kisco, was sentenced Wednesday in Westchester County. She pleaded guilty in February to grand larceny and tax fraud.

Rodriguez was a branch manager of an M&T Bank in Ossining when she stole more than $1 million from one depositor and $250,000 from another.

Prosecutors said the second victim was a 92-year-old retired police officer.

District Attorney Janet DiFiore said the 46-year-old Rodriguez stole money by writing unauthorized checks to cash, making unauthorized cash withdrawals and making unauthorized ATM withdrawals.

The thefts came to light after other employees called the bank’s whistleblower hotline.
