FARMINGTON, Utah (AP) - Farmington Canyon will be closed while crews knock down loose debris from canyon walls following the fall a five-ton boulder.

The Standard-Examiner of Ogden reports (https://bit.ly/1PWwLW0 ) that a Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest road crew is working to clear the area after blasting the fallen boulder on Tuesday.

The boulder is about size of a Volkswagen and fell off the canyon wall on Sunday, landing in the middle of the Farmington Canyon Road. No one was hurt, and crews pushed it out of the way using a bulldozer.

Davis County Sheriff’s Emergency manager Ellis Brunch says the canyon is dangerous.

Bruch says there are about 10 daily vehicle trips through the canyon on weekdays and heavy traffic from trail runners and bicyclists on the weekend.
