LAKE CHARLES, La. (AP) - The former first assistant district attorney for Calcasieu Parish has been banned from practicing law in Louisiana or any other jurisdiction.

The American Press reports (https://bit.ly/1EhZUUP ) 65-year-old Ronnie Rossitto pleaded guilty in Calcasieu Parish in February to malfeasance in office and misdemeanor simple battery. In 2013, he pleaded guilty in Orleans Parish to obscenity and the purchase of alcohol for a person under 21.

According to a ruling by the Louisiana Supreme Court, Rossitto asked to “permanently resign from the practice of law in lieu of discipline.” The Supreme Court, in a ruling published last week, granted his request.

Rossitto had been a 30-year veteran of the District Attorney’s Office.
