FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP) - The city of Fort Wayne is honoring two more veterans with banners along city streets.

Mayor Tom Henry announced Tuesday that Blue Star Banners would be put up for Capt. Todd Nicholas Miguel of the U.S. Army and Airman 1st Class Nathaniel A. Wilson of the U.S. Air Force. The city started the program a year ago and modeled it after a program in Lawrence.

The (Fort Wayne) Journal Gazette reports (https://bit.ly/1Gp90Fd ) the program honors Fort Wayne residents and city government employees who are deployed on active duty.

Service members receive their banners when they return home. Forty banners currently hang on city light posts. The banners come down in winter to protect from weather.

Family and friends can apply for banners for deployed service members at the city’s website.
