SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - The Beaver County sheriff is the subject of a lawsuit filed Monday by a former deputy who says he was fired for reporting that his boss choked a suspect.

The Salt Lake Tribune reports (https://bit.ly/1Huy6nQ ) Beaver County and Sheriff Cameron Noel were already defendants in a lawsuit filed by Timothy Wilson, the man who says Noel assaulted him.

Cody Allen testified about the choking allegations in front of Utah’s Peace Officer Standards and Training regulators. He was fired several months later for being drunk at a Halloween party and threatening a co-worker.

Allen says he knows other co-workers who’d done worse and hadn’t been fired.

Private attorney Peter Stirba was hired by the Beaver County Attorney’s Office to represent the defendants, and didn’t respond Tuesday to a request for comment.
