MADISON, Ohio (AP) - Authorities say a man has been arrested on charges alleging he started an early morning fire that destroyed a northeast Ohio country club.
Fifty-one-year-old Paul Forner was arrested Monday and charged with aggravated arson and disrupting a public service in the March 12 fire that destroyed the Madison Country Club in Lake County.
Madison police tell The News-Herald in Willoughby (https://bit.ly/1F1jiad ) that Forner wasn’t an employee of the country club, but was employed by the club’s owner at a different business.
Detectives say the origin of the fire raised suspicions. They haven’t released possible motives.
The country club, which was built in 1923 and had been recently renovated, was a complete loss.
Forner remains in the Lake County Jail. It’s not clear if he has an attorney.
