GREEN, Ohio (AP) - A sheriff’s deputy in northeast Ohio has fatally shot a man who authorities say brandished a knife, advanced on officers and couldn’t be stopped by a stun gun.

The Summit County Sheriff’s Office says it happened about 8 a.m. Wednesday in the Akron suburb of Green.

The office says deputies responded to a call at a residence about a 52-year-old man who was fighting with his father. The man refused commands to drop a knife and couldn’t be brought down by a stun gun.

Authorities say the man advanced toward deputies with the knife and was shot by one of them. He was pronounced dead at a hospital.

It wasn’t clear how many times he was shot. His name hasn’t been released.
