AKRON, Ohio (AP) - A northeast Ohio man was given the maximum sentence of five years in prison for driving drunk and causing a crash that killed a recent high school graduate last year.

The Akron Beacon Journal (https://bit.ly/1JXvWuf ) reports that 39-year-old David Brown was sentenced Tuesday after pleading guilty last month to charges that included aggravated vehicular homicide and drunken driving. His driver’s license was suspended for life.

Authorities say Brown was drunk when he drove his car into the rear of a vehicle traveling south on Interstate 77 north of Akron early on July 12.

The crash critically injured 18-year-old Andrew Moncheck, who was a passenger in the vehicle with two friends. He died at a hospital days later. His friends suffered minor injuries.
