SANTA ANA, Calif. (AP) - Santa Ana animal control officers seized 19 neglected dogs from a home after receiving a complaint.
The Orange County Register reports (https://bit.ly/1IP5rIT ) that code enforcement officials went to the home Tuesday for a complaint about the dogs. The dogs were various breeds and ages and suffering from neglect.
OC Animal Care community outreach supervisor Katie Ingram says most of the dogs were diagnosed with a medical issue including mange, eye, ear and skin infections. The agency will ask local animal rescue groups to take the dogs.
Three other dogs were found healthy in the home and allowed to remain with the owners.
The owners were not cited, but investigators say they plan to submit a case for animal neglect to the district attorney for review.
