LAS VEGAS (AP) - A union representing valet workers is calling its latest protest against SLS Las Vegas hotel and casino a strike although none of the hotel’s workers are on the picket line.

Teamsters Local 986 said it formed a picket line Wednesday beginning at 4 a.m. and planned to remain outside the Las Vegas Strip property until the casino-hotel agreed to allow its 50 valet workers to form a union.

An SLS representative issued the casino-hotel’s same unsigned statement from May 11 after another protest saying the SLS would partner with any union that employees choose and notes a majority of hourly employees are members of unions.

The union says the casino-hotel fired three valet workers for their unionizing efforts. A union representative says the three former employees were picketing Wednesday.
