TEXARKANA, Ark. (AP) - A Texarkana police corporal has been nationally honored as a lifesaver after providing medical aid at several crime and accident scenes.

Cpl. Les Munn was chosen from around 200 nominees nationwide for a RISE Award in the Protecting Life category for his actions that saved the lives of three people last year. He says he was surprised to win the award and felt humbled by it.

The Texarkana Gazette (https://bit.ly/1Px61Av ) reports Munn has been with the Texarkana police department for around 13 years. He was nominated by a fellow police officer and selected for the award by TASER and PoliceOne, a law enforcement publication.

Munn will fly to Chicago in October to receive the award at a meeting of the International Association of Chiefs of Police.
