TRAVELERS REST, S.C. (AP) - A Travelers Rest man has been charged with homicide by child abuse in the death of his 4-month-old stepson.

Police told local media that 23-year-old Kyle David Hitchcock was arrested and charged Tuesday.

Kyle Bentley Hitchcock died Sunday afternoon in Greenville Memorial Hospital. An arrest warrant said the boy had suffered a traumatic brain injury.

Travelers Rest police said the boy was found unresponsive at a home Saturday.

A doctor said the boy suffered from internal bleeding on the left side of his head and also had four fractured ribs. Those injuries appeared to have happened about two weeks ago.

It was unclear if Hitchcock has a lawyer.
