SALAMANCA, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities have charged a 24-year-old western New York woman in connection with the death of her 1-year-old daughter last month.

Police in Salamanca say they arrested Leslie Finch on Tuesday and charged her with manslaughter, reckless endangerment and endangering the welfare of a child.

Officials say they were called to Finch’s Cattaraugus County home last month for a report of a child who wasn’t responsive. Her baby, Mila Whipple, was airlifted to Women and Children’s Hospital in Buffalo, where she died from her injuries on April 26.

Police say the baby’s death was likely the cause of severe abuse.

Finch is being held Wednesday in the county jail on $100,000 bail. She’s due back in court Friday for a preliminary hearing.

It couldn’t be determined if she has an attorney who can comment on the charges.
