NESMITH, S.C. (AP) - The Williamsburg County Sheriff’s Office and the coroner are investigating the death of a Georgetown man found shot in the head and lying on a road.

The Morning News of Florence reported (https://bit.ly/1efpRPU ) Wednesday that the sheriff’s office identified the man as 75-year-old Leroy Barnes of Georgetown.

The sheriff’s office said deputies responded to a location near Nesmith about 30 miles north of Georgetown after receiving a report of a body in the road Monday afternoon.



Officials said Barnes’ body has been sent to the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston for an autopsy.
