LARAMIE, Wyo. (AP) - Fifteen Wyoming track and field student-athletes have qualified for the NCAA West Preliminary on May 28-30 in Austin, Texas.

The 10 Cowboy and five Cowgirl athletes tie last year for the program’s highest total ever to qualify for the event.

To reach the NCAA’s preliminary meet, an athlete must be ranked in the region’s top 48 of his or her event. The top 12 finishers in each event at the two regional meets will receive an invitation to the NCAA Championships next month in Eugene, Oregon.

Leading the Cowboys is freshman Ricky Faure, who in sixth in the West in the 800 meter run with a time of 1 minute, 47.59 seconds.

The top-ranked Cowgirl is senior Holly Page, who is 15th in the 10,000 meters at 33:49.66.
