NICOSIA, Cyprus (AP) - Cyprus police say three men will be tried after violence marred the Cyprus Cup final and forced a 45-minute interruption.
Police say the three men denied charges of disturbing the peace, assault and insulting police.
A judge ordered the men to post 2,000 euros ($2,230) each in bail and barred them from attending any soccer matches until their Sept. 11 trial start.
The referee stopped Sunday’s final between APOEL Nicosia and AEL Limassol in the 60th minute when AEL fans started hurling flares onto the field after their team fell behind 4-1.
They continued to shower the field with rocks and plastic chairs, prompting police to clear the stands of all AEL fans.
Both teams returned to finish the game, which APOEL won 4-2.
