ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - The southbound lanes of the Adirondack Northway near Albany have reopened following a single-vehicle crash that killed one person.

All traffic between exits 5 and 7 had been re-routed while authorities investigated. During the closure, traffic was backed up to the Twin Bridges spanning the Mohawk River about 10 miles north of Exit 24 on the New York State Thruway.

Another accident, in the northbound lanes of the Northway between exits 11 and 13 in Malta, also has been cleared. Troopers say a tractor-trailer lost its drive shaft and another vehicle hit it.
