CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - Charleston police have surrounded a home where they think the suspect in the wounding of a Berkeley County sheriff’s deputy last week is hiding.
Charleston police spokesman Charles Francis told WCSC-TV (https://bit.ly/1EZzeZH) on Thursday morning that the suspect is the person previously identified in a sketch as a person of interest in the wounding of Lt. Will Rogers. The suspect’s name has not been released.
Charleston officers have been joined by the State Law Enforcement Division and hostage negotiators in the standoff.
Rogers was shot at a gas station in Moncks Corner on May 14. Investigators say Rogers was shot as he was talking to a customer in the parking lot.
Rogers is listed in critical but stable condition at the Medical University of South Carolina Hospital in Charleston.
