SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP) - Georgia Department of Labor officials say they’re hosting a recruitment fair as the Chatham County Sheriff’s office looks to recruit 20 corrections officers.

Officials say the department is hosting recruitment fair June 2 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Savannah Career Center.

Department of Labor officials say veterans are encouraged to apply and salaries begin at more than $31,100 annually based on experience.

Officials say applicants must be at least 20 years old and have a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver’s license and complete Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training Council certification. The positions also require background checks.
