LAKE CHARLES, La. (AP) - A DeQuincy man has been convicted of second-degree murder in the 2012 shooting death of his girlfriend.

The American Press reports (https://bit.ly/1c7tply ) that State District Judge Guy Bradberry will sentence 55-year-old Leo Paul Thibodeaux on Aug. 7 to mandatory life in prison.

Thibodeaux was convicted Tuesday of the March 28, 2012, death of Toni Marie Frabbielle.

Authorities say Thibodeaux shot the 37-year-old Frabbielle twice in the head in March 2012.

Thibodeaux reported the death as a suicide. At the time, authorities called the death suspicious, but Thibodeaux wasn’t arrested until September 2013.
