HENDERSON, Tenn. (AP) - Freed-Hardeman University says Ebola survivor Dr. Kent Brantly is scheduled to speak at the school’s annual benefit dinner in December.

The university announced Wednesday that Brantly will speak at the Dec. 4 event, which generates funds for scholarships.

Brantly was infected with Ebola while working in Liberia and was successfully treated for the highly fatal virus at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta.

In a statement, Freed-Hardeman president Joe Wiley says Brantly “will inspire our students and guests” because he has “exemplified servant leadership.”
