Former Denver police officer gets probation for child porn

DENVER (AP) - A former Denver police officer has been sentenced to four years of probation for having child pornography.

The Denver Post reports (https://goo.gl/6pUfr6 ) 50-year-old Timothy Kelley was sentenced Thursday after previously pleading guilty to sexual exploitation of a child, a felony.

Sue Lindsay, a spokeswoman for the Adams County District Attorney’s Office, says Kelley has registered as a sex offender and is participating in a group treatment program.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office began investigating in January 2014, and a search turned up seven child porn videos on a computer in Kelley’s home.

Kelley, who had been a Denver police officer since 1995, resigned shortly after the department became aware of the investigation. He worked for years as a crime scene investigator, but before his arrest he was a patrol officer.
