HOUSTON (AP) - A funeral has been scheduled for a Houston police officer who was struck by a stolen vehicle driven by a fleeing robbery suspect.

Officer Richard Martin’s service will be at 2 p.m. CDT Friday at Grace Community Church in Houston.

A Houston police statement says burial was planned out of state. Further details were not immediately released Thursday.

Police say the 47-year-old officer died early Monday after being hit by a minivan driven by Jeffrey Conlin, who then sped away. Martin had been putting down spike strips to try to stop the vehicle.

The chase ended when the 33-year-old Conlin shot himself in the head. Conlin died Tuesday at a hospital.
