PHOENIX (AP) - Gasoline prices around Arizona are higher again at the pumps this week.

Officials with Triple-A Arizona said Thursday that the average statewide price for unleaded regular gasoline is $2.78 a gallon. That’s an increase of nearly 3 cents from last week.

This week’s national average also is $2.73 per gallon, up by more than 5 cents from last week.

Triple-A analysts say Arizona fuel prices are 70 cents per gallon lower compared to last year at this time heading into the Memorial Day holiday weekend.

Tucson has Arizona’s lowest average gasoline price at $2.46 a gallon and Flagstaff the highest at $2.99.

South Carolina has the lowest average gas prices among states in the continental U.S. at $2.42 a gallon with California the highest at $3.79 a gallon.
