Grant will aid school counseling

CORINTH, Miss. (AP) - The Corinth School District has received a federal grant to establish and expand counseling programs.

Superintendent Lee Childress tells The Daily Corinthian (https://bit.ly/1Hk3OPh ) the grant is worth $932,698 over three years and came from the U.S. Department of Education.

Childress says the district will focus specifically on improving student behavior and reducing the amount of time teachers spend on disciplinary issues at the elementary school level.

He says money will allow teachers to get positive behavior intervention training and provide an additional counselor and the addition of several types of curriculums. Middle school teachers and counselors will also have some involvement.
