SANDUSKY, Ohio (AP) - Officials at Cedar Point say guests had to be escorted off of rides following an afternoon power outage at the northeast Ohio amusement park along Lake Erie.

The Sandusky Register reports (https://bit.ly/1EljpvF ) the power outage occurred around 2:45 Wednesday afternoon and only affected certain parts of the park.

A spokesman for Ohio Edison, the electric company that serves the park, says the outage was caused by a problem with an underground circuit.

Cedar Point spokesman Bryan Edwards tells the newspaper that all rides affected by the power outage safely came to a stop and all guests were escorted off. He said Ohio Edison responded quickly to restore power Wednesday evening.

The park opened for the season May 9.
