NORFOLK, Va. (AP) - Virginia’s largest newspaper will soon have a new editor.

The publisher of The Virginian-Pilot (https://bit.ly/1IRDsrU ) announced Thursday that Steve Gunn will become the newspaper’s top editor.

Gunn is the editor of The Capital Gazette in Annapolis, Maryland. Before coming to Annapolis in 2013, Gunn worked at The Charlotte Observer in North Carolina for 18 years. Gunn held several positions at the Observer, including metro editor and director of audience development and strategic products.

He has also previously worked at New York Newsday, the Dallas Times Herald and the Kansas City Times and Star.

Gunn will start on June 8.

Denis Finley, who served as The Virginian-Pilot’s editor for a decade, left the newspaper in March.
