YORK, S.C. (AP) - A York landscaper whose truck was stolen last week was surrounded by police because his returned vehicle wasn’t taken off a national stolen vehicle list.
The Herald Online (https://bit.ly/1Gr8eYz ) reports Eddie Nivens was pulled over by officers Wednesday morning after dropping off his son at school because his truck had not been taken out of a national crime database for stolen vehicles.
Police say Nivens had his truck stolen May 12 and they arrested Shannon Layne Myers on May 15, accusing him of stealing the vehicle. Police later returned the truck to Nivens.
Lancaster sheriff’s office spokesman Doug Barfield says there is a process for taking stolen items off the national list and the office would make sure that was done after Nivens’ mix-up.
