MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. (AP) - A Westchester County man is heading to prison for hitting a police detective with his car last year.

The Journal News reports (https://lohud.us/1EZm7HY ) that 28-year-old Leroi Bouche was sentenced Wednesday to nine years in prison.

Authorities say Bouche drove at a Yonkers detective in a Mount Vernon parking lot as police were trying to make a traffic stop in June 2014. The detective ordered Bouche to stop. But authorities say Bouche kept accelerating and struck the detective, who suffered a dislocated shoulder and fractured vertebrae.

He fled on foot, but was arrested in the Bronx days after the incident.

Bouche pleaded guilty in March to aggravated assault on a police officer.
