RIVERHEAD, N.Y. (AP) - A Long Island driver has pleaded not guilty to charges alleging she killed a man in a head-on crash while driving drunk.
Suffolk County District Attorney Thomas Spota says Natalia Simons of Kings Park was arraigned Wednesday on a 12-count indictment.
The charges include aggravated vehicular homicide.
The March crash in Smithtown claimed the life of Larry Garwood of Island Park.
Garwood was pronounced dead at St. Catherine of Siena Medical Center, where he was a radiology supervisor. He had just left work when he was killed.
The defendant’s attorney has called it a tragic accident.
