ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - Construction projects on New York state highways and bridges are being suspended for the Memorial Day holiday weekend to help motorists get where they are going without added delays.

The halt begins at 6 a.m. Friday and will run until 6 a.m. Tuesday.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo says the suspension is intended to prevent traffic delays during one of the busiest travel weekends of the year.

Emergency repairs will still go on, and some limited construction that doesn’t interfere with traffic will continue behind permanent concrete barriers.
