OAK GROVE, La. (AP) - Oak Grove Police Chief Johnny C. “Beanie” Moss will retire July 30 after 31 years with the police department.

Moss tells The News Star (https://tnsne.ws/1HkgFAM ) that his last day on the force will be May 31 with an official retirement date of July 30.

Moss began his career as patrolman in June 1984 under former Chief Archie Aultman. He was promoted to assistant chief in 1996, and was named chief in April 1999 following the retirement of Aultman.

With more than 31 years, Moss is the longest serving police officer in the town’s history.

Mayor Adam T. Holland has named Assistant Chief of Police Lewis “Bubba” Russell as interim chief to serve until a permanent chief is named.
