OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) - Authorities say one woman died and two men were hospitalized with life-threatening injuries in a fire started in the kitchen of an Oakland home.
The Oakland Tribune reports (https://bayareane.ws/1HiVdMx) fire crews on Wednesday responded to a fire that appeared to have started on the stove of a house.
Oakland Fire Acting Battalion Chief Marlon Brandle says that upon arrival, firefighters found light smoke coming from the back of the home and a small kitchen.
He says all three victims suffered from smoke inhalation. The woman died at the scene and officials say her death did not appear to be suspicious. The two men were transported to a hospital with serious injuries.
Brandle says the fire was under control by Wednesday evening.
He says officials were still trying to determine the cause of the fire and had not estimated damage to the home.
