COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - A federal judge in Columbus has sentenced a 46-year-old man to seven years in prison after prosecutors say he was found with more than 16,000 images and videos of child pornography on a computer and thumb drive.
Federal prosecutors said that Daniel Akehurst of Chillicothe (chihl-ih-KAHTH’-ee) was sentenced Wednesday after pleading guilty in December to knowingly possessing child pornography.
Investigators in September 2013 linked 59 images of children between 1 and 7 being sexually abused to Akehurst’s IP address. They say a subsequent search turned up the rest of the material.
Several Columbus-area police departments, as well as state and federal authorities, were involved in the case.
