OSO, Wash. (AP) - The owner of the Oso General Store is struggling to keep her business afloat just three months after opening.
KOMO-TV reports (https://bit.ly/1Sj3bhg ) Jana Hecla is having a hard time staying in business, despite the unique history that the store has hidden beneath its old floor. Hecla says there is a trap door that hides a prohibition cellar built in the 1920s.
Hecla says she can’t afford to pay bills and fears the power will be shut off.
Neighbors were excited when Hecla bought the old store on the sixth month anniversary of the deadly mud slide that occurred less than four miles away.
Hecla desires support for her business from the community that came together after the slide. She says she doesn’t need charity, she needs customers.
