MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Police say a man trying to avoid arrest rammed into a patrol car and broke into a Minneapolis home before being coaxed down from the roof hours later.

According to police, the 37-year-old man had multiple felony warrants and was being pursued by U.S. Marshals and the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office. They spotted him in a vehicle in Minneapolis, and then he hit their car around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday and fled.

Two Hennepin County deputies suffered injuries that were not life threatening.

Police say the man then broke into an occupied home, barricaded himself and eventually got on the roof. A SWAT negotiation team arrived, and he came down around 9 p.m.

The Star Tribune (https://strib.mn/1IMuxti ) reports the man wasn’t armed when arrested, but police aren’t sure if he had a weapon earlier.
