ROUND ROCK, Texas (AP) - Police in a city north of Austin say they have seized $1.5 million worth of methamphetamine that was hidden in a vehicle’s gas tank.
Local media outlets report Round Rock police announced the seizure Wednesday. An arrest affidavit says an officer pulled over a vehicle on Interstate 35 Monday after a registration check showed it was uninsured. Police say the driver did not have a driver’s license.
Authorities say the driver consented to a search of the vehicle and a police dog detected the odor of drugs in the car. The arrest affidavit says officers found 15 plastic containers holding 35.6 pounds of methamphetamine in the gas tank.
The suspect was arrested and is being held in the Williamson County Jail on $350,000 bail.
