CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. (AP) - Three rare Kemp’s ridley sea turtles are back in the ocean months after being rescued during a stranding along the Massachusetts coastline.

Members of the SeaWorld Orlando Animal Rescue Team returned the sea turtles to the Canaveral National Seashore on Wednesday.

Florida Today (https://on.flatoday.com/1IMGyyT ) reports the turtles were among 72 rescued during a mass cold stranding in November. They weighed between 4.5 and 6 pounds when they were rescued. Officials say they each weighed about 9 pounds upon release.

SeaWorld officials say they’ve now released 63 of the stranded turtles.

The Kemp’s ridley sea turtles are considered the most endangered species of sea turtle.
