NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (AP) - Divers are expected to enter a rushing river in western Nebraska on Thursday to check a submerged object that officials say could be the car that carried two missing teenagers into the water.
Officials have been searching for 17-year-old Alexis Wiezorek (wih-ZOR’-ehk) and 18-year-old Noah Ramos since late Monday night. The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office says Wiezorek drove around several barricades and then into the swollen South Platte River, which had washed out part of a road on the south side of North Platte. Law officers, firefighters and others have searched along the banks, with help from helicopters overhead.
Lincoln County Sheriff Jerome Kramer told The North Platte Telegraph (https://bit.ly/1Elkdk6 ) that searchers using sonar found the submerged object Wednesday near the eroded area of South River Road.
