ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) - George and Lucy, the last flamingos remaining at a St. Petersburg botanical garden are getting several roommates this fall.

The nonprofit group raising money to buy new flamingos for the city-owned Sunken Gardens reached its $60,000 goal, and 20 birds are being procured.

It’s uncertain how George and Lucy, who are about 60 years old, will take to a bunch of young whippersnappers joining them.

The Tampa Bay Times (https://bit.ly/1K2vivw) reports that employees will watch the group closely, sleeping there at night even, to see how the birds get along. The senior citizens of the group can have their own space if the influx of new birds seems to ruffle their feathers.
