ROCKFORD, Ill. (AP) - The University of Illinois College of Medicine at Rockford has announced plans to add five residency programs for doctors.
The Rockford Register Star reports (https://bit.ly/1efvzkT) the new residency programs could increase graduate enrollment by 150 students a year.
The new residencies would be in emergency medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, general surgery, internal medicine and psychiatry.
The college now runs a family medicine residency program in partnership with SwedishAmerican Health System. It employs 21 resident doctors.
The estimated cost of launching the new residencies would be $2 million. The programs would be operated by a partnership involving the college, Rosecrance Health Network, Rockford’s three health systems and Crusader Community Health.
