BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) - Champlain Cable Corporation of Colchester has won the 2014 Deane C. Davis Outstanding Business of the Year award.

Gov. Peter Shumlin presented the award at the Vermont Chamber Business & Industry EXPO Thursday in Burlington. Champlain Cable is a specialty wire and cable manufacturer that was founded in 1956.

Vermont Business Magazine and the Vermont Chamber of Commerce created the award - named after the former governor - 25 years ago to recognize and honor the state’s best companies.

The 31st annual event is being held the Sheraton Burlington Hotel & Conference Center.

Organizers said an estimated 3,000 business leaders planned to attend the EXPO, which includes 150 exhibitors.
