EL MIRAGE, Calif. (AP) - An elderly woman died in a mobile home fire in El Mirage while her husband fought the flames.
San Bernardino County Fire Department spokeswoman Tracey Martinez tells the Riverside Press-Enterprise (https://bit.ly/1FpkoPo) the victim’s husband smelled smoke and found the kitchen ablaze. He tried to extinguish the blaze with a garden hose but was forced to leave the home as the flames spread.
The couple’s adult daughter found her mother in a bedroom and tried to administer CPR but was forced to escape because of smoke.
Firefighters rescued 10 dogs from the burning home.
The fire was reported around 12:30 p.m. Wednesday.
This is the second fatal house fire in the area in two days. A wheelchair-bound Pinon Hills man died Monday.
