SPARTANBURG, S.C. (AP) - A North Carolina woman’s video posted to social media is leading to changes on a stretch of a South Carolina road.

The Herald-Journal of Spartanburg reports (https://bit.ly/1Lqb4wV) Olivia Whiteside, of Tryon, North Carolina, said she had driven down Highway 176 several weeks ago when she noticed that a third lane ended without any arrows or warning signs. The lane begins at Interstate 26 and continues until merging with the other two lanes in Inman.

Whiteside said the same type of issue killed one of her friends in 1999.

S.C. Department of Transportation officials say work will begin soon to alert drivers to the lane change. Traffic engineer Eric Dillon said signs that indicate merging will be added in about 30 days. Arrows will be painted shortly after that.
