HERTFORD, N.C. (AP) - Four brothers from a family of eight who faced charges including rape and incest in connection with a decade-long sexual abuse case have been sentenced.
Multiple news outlets report investigators say six brothers abused a girl at their home in Hertford starting when she was 4. The girl is now 17.
Two of the brothers, ages 28 and 23, pleaded guilty Thursday to first-degree sex offenses and were sentenced to 12 to 15 years in prison. A 20-year-old pleaded guilty to incest and a 22-year-old pleaded no contest. They were sentenced to 20 months to two years.
Another brother goes to court July 20. A sixth brother hasn’t accepted a plea deal. The brothers’ parents are jailed on felony sex abuse charges.
