BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) - A man who admitted to conning dozens in western New York into paying for snowplow services that weren’t provided is heading to jail.
Authorities say Scott Romero has been sentenced to six months in jail stemming from six violations of a court order. The state Attorney General’s Office obtained the 2011 court order after he failed to provide promised snow removal services in the Buffalo area.
Romero violated the order by starting his snow removal service back up under a false name. Authorities say he scammed victims in Rochester in 2013 and 2014. He’s been ordered to pay back more than $50,000 to those customers.
