BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - A 21-year-old Baton Rouge man will be sentenced Sept. 14 in the 2012 drug-related shooting death of a Denham Springs woman.
The Advocate reports (https://bit.ly/1LtM7Az ) that Covonta Magee was found guilty Thursday of second-degree murder in the Dec. 22, 2012, death of 21-year-old Clara Seal in a parking lot.
Police say 23-year-old Chelsea Daigle of Gonzales, is charged with second-degree murder in the slaying and testified against Magee.
Authorities say Daigle and Seal showed up together at the parking lot and got into another car, where Magee shot Seal and stole cash Seal brought for drugs.
Magee faces a mandatory penalty of life in prison when state District Judge Trudy White sentences him.
