BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) - Burlington police are using a drug detection dog to help investigate an accident that occurred on the Winooski River Bridge.

The Burlington Free Press reports (https://bfpne.ws/1Ko7jKF ) an SUV crashed into a retaining wall on the bridge between Burlington and the Winooski roundabout at about 8 p.m. Thursday.

A large chunk of retaining wall was knocked out, leaving a gap of about 5 to 6 feet in the wall between the sidewalk and river.

Police say the driver was the only person in the vehicle and was hospitalized after the wreck. Officials have not released the driver’s name and condition.

Mo, a drug detection dog, appeared to hit on an area of the Ford Explorer’s passenger side rear quarter-panel.

Police say they will seek a search warrant to continue investigating.
